About
About Mashup Atlas
An independent index of game mashups. For each one we record what it needs and where it comes from, and keep that apart from what we have tested, which so far is nothing.
What this site does and doesn't do
Does
- Lists mashups using their creators' own pages as the source.
- Records the date and commit each source was read.
- Links to the creator's release, setup or play page.
- Explains how the projects join two games.
- Lets you load a browser game from its creator's site on the game's page, when you choose to.
Doesn't
- Host, mirror or link straight to download files.
- Copy or host anyone's game. GameMash can be played on its page here, but it loads from the creator's own hosting, only after you press Play.
- Test, scan or vouch for files.
- Provide ROMs or game files, or point to where they are.
- Rank or review projects.
How entries are checked
Each label stands for a specific piece of evidence. If the evidence is missing, the build refuses the label, so a label can't appear by accident.
| Label | Meaning | Evidence it needs |
|---|---|---|
| Release listed | The creator has a release on their own page. We link to that page, not to the file. | A release on the creator’s page, recorded with its version and date. |
| Source + setup guide | No ready-made download. You build it yourself from the creator’s instructions. | The creator’s setup instructions, and no release listed. |
| Browser version linked | The creator hosts a playable version on their own site. We link there, and where a page offers it you can also load it here from the creator’s host. | A playable page run by the creator. |
| Sources read <date> | The day we last read the creator’s pages. | The exact commit we read, shown on each entry. |
| Not play-tested here | We have not completed a full play test. A loading check or brief input check does not qualify. | Every entry right now. |
| Play-tested here | We ran it ourselves. Not used yet. | A dated test record naming the machine and version. |
| AI use not stated | The creator’s pages don’t say whether AI tools were used. | Nothing; this is the default. |
| AI agent setup guide | The repository includes instructions for AI coding agents to set it up. That says nothing about how it was made. | A link to that file. |
| AI use stated by creator | The creator says AI tools were used to build it. Not used yet. | A link to where the creator says so. |
Each entry shows when its sources were read. If that date is old, the creator's page may have changed, and theirs is the one to trust.
How pages are made
- Start from the creator's own pages. Repository READMEs and release lists, not videos or reposts.
- Write short summaries with AI assistance. Drafting is done with an AI assistant, working from those sources. Requirements are paraphrased, not copied.
- Keep evidence next to claims. Every entry links its sources and states what was read. We don't claim expert or independent review.
